Elisabeth Haich was a Hungarian spiritual teacher and author of several books on spirituality, including The Wisdom of Tarot, which she wrote in collaboration with D. Q. Stephenson. In this book, she explores the symbolism and meaning of the 22 cards of the Major Arcana of the Tarot deck, relating them to the stages of spiritual development and the mysteries of initiation.
Elisabeth Haich was born in Budapest in 1897 and had a keen interest in art, philosophy and religion from an early age. She studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts and became a renowned artist. She also met Selvarajan Yesudian, an Indian yogi who came to Hungary in 1937, and together they founded Europe's first yoga school in Budapest in 1941. They had to flee the country after World War II and settled in Switzerland, where they continued their teaching and writing activities.
Elisabeth Haich claimed to have had a past life memory of being the daughter of Pharaoh Amenhotep II and a priestess of Isis in ancient Egypt. She wrote about this experience in her best-selling book Initiation, which was published in 1953. She also wrote other books on topics such as reincarnation, karma, meditation, astrology and numerology. She died in 1994 at the age of 97.In The Wisdom of Tarot, Elisabeth Haich explains that the Tarot cards are not a tool for fortune-telling, but a way of understanding oneself and one's place in the cosmic order. She says that the Tarot is a symbolic representation of the universal laws that govern the creation and evolution of life. She also says that the Tarot is a book of initiation, which means that it reveals the secrets of how to attain spiritual enlightenment and liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
The book is divided into two parts. The first part gives an overview of the history and origin of the Tarot, as well as its connection to other esoteric traditions such as Kabbalah, astrology and numerology. The second part provides a detailed interpretation of each of the 22 cards of the Major Arcana, which correspond to the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet and the 22 paths on the Tree of Life. Each card is illustrated with a full-color image and accompanied by a commentary that explains its meaning, symbolism and practical application.
The book also includes exercises and meditations for each card, which help the reader to internalize its message and activate its energy. The book is intended for both beginners and advanced students of the Tarot, as well as anyone who is interested in exploring the mysteries of life and consciousness. The Wisdom of Tarot has received positive reviews from readers who have found it to be a profound and insightful guide to the Tarot and its spiritual significance.
